Sensations vs. Xcite - Showdown

  1. Pricing
    Winner: Sensations. starter pack Xcite=1200L$, Sensations 400L$
  2. HUD-Design
    Winner: Xcite
    One can see the actual state of the partner in the Xcite-HUD. Also, you can access many settings straight by the HUD. The Sensations HUD always opens a Diaologbox and you need more mouseclicks to access the wanted function
  3. HUD-Variety
    Winner: Sensations
    The HUD of Sensations is called "Core" - and that matches. Because one can not only see ones own state in terms of arousal but also other factors. For example, if you wear a collar, you collect points as "Sub". There are points also for Dom, Sado, Maso etc.
  4. Kink-factor
    Winner: Sensations
    The Sensations system is definitely more complex, but still easy to handle. So you collect for example nympho points and arousal points. If you reach certain critical values while not in a "session", the system indicates through messages to your environment, that you might want to have sex. (This is just one example)
  5. Quality of Add-ons
    Winner: equal
    Xcite has the better remote control system, the settings survive a relog, while the Sensations remote does not.
    The "reach out" is an add on in Xcite and works fine. Sensations has something comparable only when one is wearing a so called Amethyst-Collar and is near the Owner.
    So, in these points, Xcite is leading.
    Sensations has, especially when one is using the Amethyst collar, a nicer working control system regarding the HUD and various states. Also, the handling of enhancements like piercings is easier with Sensations.
  6. Scripting support (jsut for the scripters among us)
    Winner: Sensations
    While you need to register to become a xcite-developer, you can get a developer pack for sensations for free. The documentation is well done in both packs, but Sensations can also support Xcite, not vice versa. So, you only need to do one script for your items and can serve both groups.
I know very well, that such scripted parts can not be a substitute for an equal partner. In some situations they might be a nice add on though. Wether one uses the one or the other system, it is not about "click-o-lympics" but about nice toys for adding to the fun.

Sensations vs. Xcite - the Sensations part

And here is part two of the short description of the scritped systems for, errm, yes, you know for what ;)

Sensations

1. the location
Open the Map and look for Sensations. That is the name of the sim. Once arrived, go straight to the shop and look for "Genitals".

2. the package
Also in here i would recommend the female starter pack. It costs 400L$ and contains nipples, clit, Lips, Ass and vibrator, also a HUD. The Sensations HUD controls the own items and grants also access to the items of your partner when in a session. Usage of all items is simple: attach and use it.

3. Add ons
There are several add ons for Sensations products. Not as many as for xcite but somehow more "kinky". For example a script that listens to your "/me" messages and influences your actual state.

Sensations vs. Xcite - the Xcite part

Some people like it, others don't. Let's talk about scripted genitals. Or, better say, scripts system for, uh, yes, sex. My experiences cover two systems, Xcite and Sensations. And, i for my part, can only cover the female side ;)

Xcite
1. the location
Open the Map and look for Eventide, that is the name of the sim, where the Xcite Main store is located. And be aware, that it is always crowded there. When you enter the store, look for "human body parts".2. the package
You can buy single parts or go for a starter-set. If you go for Xcite, i would recommend the set.
It costs 1200L$ at the moment of the blog entry and contains:
- some invisible prims which are layers above your body, like nipples, clit, ass
- a Head-up-Display (HUD) to control your items and also the items of a partner when you are in a session.
With the HUD you can easily switch your items to active/non-active, grant access, restrict access, access parts of a partner etc.

Installation is simple: attach the items and there you go.

3. Add ons:
you can buy tons of add ons straight in the store. For example remote controlled vibrators, sound-output, floggers, add ons for wings, ears, hair etc.

Scripting lesson 1 - Notecard giver

You can place this script into any prim. As soon as somebody touches the prim, a notecard will be given to the person who touched it. The notecard needs to be also inside the prim for this.

Now lets look into the details, line by line:

key user;
this is the declaration of a variable. The type of the variable is "key" and the name is "user". Note, that nearly all lines in LSL end with a ;


default

}

All default events will find their place in between the brackets { ...}, introduced by the word "default".

touch_start(integer total_number)
{
.....
}
This is the "touch-event". It always occurs when someone touches the prim. Actions between the { } are executed then.

user=llDetectedKey(0);
Each Resident has a Userkey. This function detects the Userkey of the avatar who touched the prim.

llGiveInventory(....);
Gives the Inventgoryitem specified in the function. When talking about "Inventory", that refers to the inventgory of the prim, not your personal inventory.

llGetInventoryName(....)
Get the name of the item in the inventory, which is supposed to be given to the user.

Glint is online!

Our first Sim, Glint is now running since five days ;) The first two days were kind of some work, but now its all smooth
We have great neighbours, met a lot of funny and interesting people and have rented out nearly all what we offered to rent. Great experience, but stressy in the beginning. Of course, my translator broke when i was in the midst of negotiation with some brazilians - and next day SL database was messed up, so no one was able to buy land for one day. But hey, that adds to the fun ;) And that quiet day, where no new renters were around, uhm, i enjoyed with J a lot of other stuff ;)

Companies disappointed?


As i read earlier today in a german magazine, lots of companies from RL are disappointed about SL. The islands who are owned by companies are mostly deserted, no one around and admiring all the cool stuff these companies are doing iRL.
Well all you Mercedes, T-Coms, Adidas etc... maybe people in SL don't want your very nice RL products? Maybe RL is RL and SL is SL?
There are companies though, who are quiet pleasant in their SL presence. Like the one on this picture. It is a dutch company (arrgh, i forgot the name) and they use the abilities of SL as a showcase of their knowledge. So they turned pictures from dutch painter Van Gogh into 3D-walking areas.
Very nice to see, and you will find it here.

There is hope ;)

Grendel's children

Three sims, connected together. One of the nicest designs i have seen so far in SL. A lot to see, on the ground in the skyboxes, under the skyboxes etc. A must see!

Neko Babbler

Nekos speak neko ;) so i did a neko babbler for SL. Allows you to talk to your Neko friends in neko, while the humans dont understand one word ;)

nothing wrong if someone is fine with his standard shape. But guys, do not expect women to fall in line for a date for you if you dont work on it.

It is not enough to tell a girl "hey, you are sooo good looking" - you should work on yourself too.
